Committees meet at least twice a year to review and make recommendations on public policy issues and legislation. The policy development process initiated by the steering committees is the foundation for the American County Platform, which drives NACo's advocacy work.

More than 100 county officials recently graduated from the South Carolina Association of Counties’ (SCAC) Institute of Government for County Officials, Levels I and II. Graduates included elected officials and county employees and represented 42 of the state’s 46 counties.
