The Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program makes federal funds available to states, U.S territories, federally recognized tribal governments, and local communities for hazard mitigation activities. It does so with a recognition of the growing hazards associated with climate change, and of the need for natural hazard risk mitigation activities that promote climate adaptation and resilience with respect to those hazards. On August 12, the U.S. Census Bureau released additional 2020 Census results showing an increase in the population of U.S. metro areas compared to a decade ago. In addition, these once-a-decade results showed the nation’s diversity in how people identify their race and ethnicity. For more information, visit the U.S. Census website.

SCAC has drafted a sample resolution for counties to consider adopting in support of a legislative solution to the recent Burns decision that is imperiling county user fees throughout South Carolina. The association is providing this sample resolution so that counties can send a consistent message to their legislative delegation in hopes of achieving a legislative fix to this issue.
