Senate Bills - February 21, 2025
S. 357 (Sens Rankin and Alexander) — Establishes the crime of mail theft and outlines the penalties for offenders.
S. 362 (Sen. Adams) — Provides that a person who pays to play a skill-based game and receives a prize relative to their skill level is not considered gambling.
S. 366 (Sens. Kimbrell, Garrett, Fernandez, Leber, Stubbs, Gambrell, Corbin and Nutt) — Prohibits a homeowners’ association from foreclosing on a debtor's primary residence.
S. 367 (Sen. Campsen) — Declares abandoned, derelict, and sunken vessels as public nuisances and establishes penalties for causing or allowing vessels to become abandoned or derelict. Additionally, it outlines a process for submitting removal plans and procedures for removing sunken vessels, allowing for immediate removal of vessels posing navigational or environmental hazards. Further, the bill also requires the creation of a website and application for reporting these vessels and repeals previous sections related to abandoned watercraft and their seizure.
S. 368 (Sens. Garrett, Kimbrell, Cash, Fernandez, Johnson, Adams, Corbin, Rice, Zell, Leber and Elliott) — Enacts the "Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity Act." It prohibits any office, division, or unit of the state, including all political subdivisions, institutions of higher learning, and school districts, from promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. The act promotes individual initiative, excellence, and hard work while also providing specific exceptions and clarifying its applicability.
S. 371 (Sens. Jackson and Davis) — The Department of Motor Vehicles may issue mobile driver's licenses and mobile special identification cards and provide for the carrying and displaying of these mobile driver's licenses.
