Scholarship applications due Feb. 1 for 2024 graduating high school seniors
Applications are due Feb. 1 for the 2024 scholarship program sponsored by the South Carolina Association of Counties (SCAC) Board of Directors.
A $5,000 one-time scholarship will be awarded to a Pickens County graduating senior in honor of Pickens County Council Vice Chairman and SCAC President Roy Costner III.
Each year, the Association offers financial assistance to students who are pursuing higher education in South Carolina. The program makes one-time scholarships available to a student in the Association president’s home county and to students in four counties chosen by lot.
In addition to Pickens County, the 2024 scholarship program will be available to students in Clarendon, Kershaw, Laurens and Marion counties. One student from each of these counties will be selected to receive a $5,000 scholarship.
Recipients are notified in May.
Recipients will be chosen based on academic achievements, community involvement and the quality of their application essay.
