Spotlight: Owen McBride

SCAC is pleased to spotlight Owen McBride, Assistant Director of Governmental Affairs. Owen joined the association in 2013 and focuses his advocacy efforts on revenue, finance, and economic development issues on behalf of our counties. He enjoys representing county government on the broad spectrum of issues that arise each year at the statehouse.

Owen’s colleagues appreciate his positive energy, attention to detail, dedication, humor, and problem-solving approach. When asked what he enjoys most about his work with the association and counties, he replies:

“My favorite part of working for SCAC is the relationships, both professional and personal, that I have built with county officials and members of the General Assembly from all over the state. Working with these representatives of government to better the lives of all South Carolinians is a true honor. I am also blessed to work with what I strongly believe to be the best legal team in the state, which makes coming to work each day a true joy!”

In his spare time, Owen enjoys playing golf, hiking, spending time at the beach or lake, working with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and traveling with his wife Erin and their two sons, Henry and Hudson.
