Counties Connect: A Legislative Action Day
Mark your calendar for SCAC’s Counties Connect: A Legislative Action Day that will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at the Pastides Alumni Center at USC (900 Senate St.) in downtown Columbia. This event provides an excellent opportunity for county leaders to connect with their local delegation members to advocate for their counties.
The Counties Connect Legislative Reception will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, as part of Counties Connect. The reception will run from 5 to 7 p.m. and will take place at The Palmetto Club (1231 Sumter St.).

Institute of Government for County Officials
On Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2024, Institute of Government courses in Level I and Level II are being offered in conjunction with the Counties Connect: A Legislative Action Day at the Pastides Alumni Center at USC (900 Senate St.). Participants are eligible to earn credit for Level II courses after graduation from Level I or earning credit for at least six (6) Level I courses.

Council Chairperson's Workshop
On Tuesday, February 20, 2024, SCAC is pleased to offer a free workshop for county council chairs and vice chairs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hilton Center Columbia (924 Senate St.) The session will be offered in conjunction with the Association’s Counties Connect: A Legislative Action Day and Institute of Government for County Officials classes in February.
This workshop is open to all council chairmen and vice chairmen. Participants will discuss the duties, powers, and responsibilities of the chair and vice chair leadership positions. Strategies for running effective meetings, the importance of rules of procedure, and building effective working relationships will also be addressed. Although the session will be geared toward new chairs and vice chairs, experienced chairs and vice chairs are encouraged to attend. Workshop participants will earn three hours of credit toward Level II certification.
