Board Member Spotlight: Bill Robinson
South Carolina Association of Counties First Vice President William (Bill) Robinson serves as vice chairman of Allendale County Council. He was born and raised in Allendale County and has been in public service since 1978.
We’re excited to kick off our Board of Directors spotlights with Robinson, who also serves as chairman of the SCAC Legislative Committee, and help you get to know him better.
What is an interesting fact about Allendale County?
It’s the youngest county, established in 1919. It’s also a major hub for CSX Transportation.
How would you like to see Allendale County grow in the next year?
I would like to see more small businesses and downtown development and redevelopment.
What do you do when you aren’t serving your county?
I enjoy playing golf from Barnwell to the Lowcountry to Savannah.
What’s the last book you read cover to cover?
“Walking with the Wind” by John Lewis.
Do you do any volunteer work?
I am an active member of a men’s forum that mentors at-risk youth aged 10 and older. I’m also a certified volunteer with the Department of Juvenile Justice.
What’s a little-known fact about you?
I’m a blues music fan, and I’ve visited nearly all of the major blues music cities.
Where is a place you’ve always wanted to visit?
Costa Rica because of its beauty and tranquility.
